I took second at USATF Nationals Cross-Country when I was ten. I was 6th at nationals in the 3000 in 2004.

Personal:

I did lots of competitive running growing up. I'm now 23 and have fibromyalgia and CFS. I just finished nursing school and am going back for my MSN in a few months, but I want to get back in shape and be able to run again.

AM- We ran up to Sunnyside park and did 5 strides. Then we did fartlek. 5x2 minutes on 2 minutes off. Then we did a cooldown and finished at the track.

PM- We went for a short 3 mile run. We did it in 23:27. My legs felt good but my shins hurt as usual. First meet tomorrow!!

Today was our first race. I was really nervous for the race because I haven't raced in a while and I didn't know where I was fitness wise. The race was on our region course which is probably the toughest course we race other than state. It was pre-region so all the schools from our region was there. I went out pretty hard with the lead girls.  By the first mile I was in the lead. I felt pretty good. Then I just held on from there and I ended up winning the race! I ran  20:00. The course was 2.93. I still need to build my base up a bit more, and I really need to work on hills. I'm excited to see how the season goes, our next meet is BYU this weekend.

AM- We did 2 big grass loops to warm up, and then we did 4 laps of speed changes and 1 lap slow. Then I did 4x200 in 39, 39, 39, and 38. Then we did two more grass loops for a cool down.

Today we had BYU. I did about a 2 mile warm up. Then we did some strides and started the race. The first mile went really well. I came through in 6:00 and was with the lead pack. From there I faded back. My time ended up being a 20:32. Overall the race wasn't too bad, but after I fell off of the lead pack I didn't fight. I need to fight more and not let myself slow down so much.

PM- Went for a 7.5 mile run at an easy pace.

I did a 2.5 mile warm-up and then 5 strides. Then I did 6 hills at murray park. Then we went over to another hill and I did 4 more hills. Then I did a cooldown to make it to 5 miles. My knee hurt as usual.

AM- This morning we went to Sugar House park and did 5 hills and then ran back to the school.

PM- Track workout...4 laps slow then 4 laps speed changes then 1 lap slow. Then a 2000 in 7:26 and 5x400 in 1:17, 1:20, 1:18, 1:18, 1:16. Then 5 strides and a mile cooldown.

PM- Warmed up for race. We ran the first mile of the race hard (6:39) and then did fartlek to the finish. We did minute on and minute off. My time was 23:30. After the race I did a mile and a half cooldown.

We warmed up just over a mile and did some strides. The start was late and everyone was held at the start line for about 15 minutes longer than we planned. It was really hot out. I started the race and tried to get into a rythm. I worked on moving up from person to person. I tried to push on the hills. I did well for about 2 miles and then my legs were really tired. Going into the race I was pretty sore so I think the hills in the course were more than they could take. I did well and gave a good effort. I think when my legs are fresh I'll be able to run alot faster. I was 21st over all and I think 8th in 4a so that was good. After the race we jogged a little over a mile cooldown.

Me and my dad went for a run at night. It was 12 miles and it took me 1:41. It felt really good but I need to drink more water during the day so I don't get so dehydrated when I run.

AM- Me and my dad went for a run that was just over 6 miles. It took us 52:35. I felt really sluggish, and the run felt really forced. I'm probably just a little stiff from not running yesterday.

PM- Went for an easy 3.5 mile run in the rain it was lots of fun. It took about 30 minutes.

AM- Went for a long run around the VA and then did 2x300 at 55 and 54. It felt really good.

PM- I did a mile warm-up, then a mile of speed changes and 1 lap slow. Then I did a 2000, a 1000, and 4x400. My times were: 7:31, 3:40, 1:16, 1:17, 1:17, 1:17. Then I did about a mile cool down. On the last 400 my legs were really tired and shaking but I still finished pretty strong. After I did a 20 minute ice bath.

We ran from the school to Sugar House park and then did a lap around the park and then back to the school. On the way back to the school we went through the gully. Once we got done we did 10 barefoot strides on the grass.

This morning we had a race. This particular meet is divided up into 7 different races. I ran in the #1 varsity race. There were 23 girls in my race. It was the same course as our region course which we ran 2 weeks earlier. I ran 11 seconds slower today, and I was 13th in my race. I felt like I ran an okay race but I kind of was just going through the motions and not really racing. This seems to happen in alot of my races and I need to figure out what I need to do so that I can be more competitive. I warmed up about a mile and a half. It was really hot out so I tried to hydrate well. I think I warmed up too early but I was antsy so I had to do something. My legs were really sore today and just felt off, but I still should have pushed harder. In my next few races I really need to focus more on them and actually race them.

At night I went for a 7 mile run to get my mileage for the week. 50! Yay :)

We jogged a mile warm-up, then a mile of speed changes and 1 lap slow. Then we did 6x1000. I did the first 3 of them in 3:36, 3:39, and 3:41. On the 4th one my knee was hurting and I was tired and so I dropped out at the 400, which was a 1:27. Then my dad talked me into finishing the workout. I did the last 2 in 3:40 and 3:42. Then I had to hurry to the doctor, so I didn't have time for a cooldown. The hardest part of the workout was that it was really windy. I felt okay but I wish I would have done the fourth 1000 and not dropped out. I need to be tougher in my workouts and go into them with a better attitude.

We had a race today. It was on a road for a mile and then it turned onto a trail. I ran more of a tempo run because there wasn't really anyone to push me. It took me 19:12 for 2.8. After I jogged the course backwards and then when we got back to the school I ran 3.5 miles and did 8 strides.

I went for an easy loosen up run before the race tomorrow. I went for 20 minutes and it was about 2.5 miles. My legs are sore but felt pretty good. I need to take an ice bath tonight.
