Personal:

I did lots of competitive running growing up. I'm now 23 and have fibromyalgia and CFS. I just finished nursing school and am going back for my MSN in a few months, but I want to get back in shape and be able to run again.

I've worked graveyards the last three nights and I wasn't disciplined enough to run on those days, but I knew I needed to force myself to get up and go run today. Today I had a long rough day at work, but I still managed to get out and go for a run afterward. I walked a mile then ran a mile. My total time was 27:17. My foot that had a bunionectomy on it was hurting pretty bad. I think it's just got some fluid built up in it from being on my feet all day and then running after that. I'll elevate it tonight and hopefully it'll be better tomorrow.

Today I ran 3 miles. It felt good and my total time was 30:09.  After my workout I did 3x 15 sit-up and 3x10 push-ups.

My original plan for the week was to run 15 miles and walk 5, and then next week run 20. I'm having a hard time motivating myself to do my workouts on the days where I'm going to walk because it takes so much more time, so I'm going to skip the walking and just get the 15 miles of running in. I don't know that the walking is benefiting me much anyway now that I'm able to run 2-3 miles each day.

Tonight I ran 2 miles, and I took Aurora with me. She was really excited, so the first mile was alot faster than the second. My total time was 20:20. Today I did 3 miles on the treadmill really slow. I still don't feel good and I didn't want to be outside in the cold so I went to the gym, and then afterwards I sat in the steam room to help my sinuses drain. My total time was 34:51. This morning I warmed up about half a mile then I ran the race. My time for the race was 28:45. It was a really tough course, but I was able to do the whole thing without walking. It was really tempting to walk when others next to me were walking up the hills and maintaining the same pace as I was running but I did it. I also met my goal to be under 30 so I was really happy with my race. After the race I ran 2.5 miles cooldown very slow. Then I watched the seeded boys and Garek won which was really exciting!!! Then we had the long bus ride home which sucked, but it was a fun trip.

Tonight after work I drove over to my Dad's house and we did 4 miles. My total time was 38:00. My left shin and right quad still hurt pretty consistently and it makes it hard to open up my stride, but my legs feel better when I do. I've been massaging them the past couple nights and stretching. I hope they stop hurting soon. It's hard to motivate myself to run when every step is painful.

I took yesterday off because my shin was hurting pretty bad. Today I ran with my Dad. We did our traditional run to go get the christmas tree. After working all day I did the beat the new year 5k at sugarhouse park. The race started at 11:30 and it was about 5 degrees. It was freezing, but I over dressed and was really hot during the race. My goal was just to beat the new year since I haven't been running as much and I was pretty tired from work. It turned out to be my fastest 5k this year. My time was about 26:30 (there weren't timers). I beat the new year and it felt pretty good. Hopefully this next year will be even better, and I can get in shape and actually run closer to the way I used to.
